Microsoft hat eine offizielle Kompatibilitätsliste veröffentlicht, die aussagt, welche Xbox Spiele problemlos auf der Xbox 360 laufen. Diese Liste wird ständig ergänzt, wenn neue Xbox-Titel auch auf der Xbox 360 spielbar sind.
Um Xbox-Spiele auf der Xbox 360 spielen zu können, benötigt ihr eine Festplatte sowie den aktuellen Kompatibilitäts-Patch. Dieser wird automatisch über Xbox-Live geladen, sobald ihr ein kompatibles Xbox-Spiel in die Xbox 360 einlegt. Solltet ihr keinen Xbox-Live-Zugang haben, so könnt ihr die Software auch über einen PC im Internet herunterladen und auf eine CD brennen.
